Spark Metal Fabrication started in 2015 as a one-man operation by Director, Adam Leathem. Since then we have continued to grow, going from strength to strength and earning our reputation for precision craftsmanship, reliability and versatility.

Spark Metal Fabrication is one of the few local engineering companies with both a complete sheet metal division and a structural/general fabrication division. This set-up allows us to handle everything from fine stainless and aluminium work to large-scale industrial projects, giving our clients all the benefits of a full-service metal fabrication partner.

Yes. We offer a complete end-to-end service, including fabrication in our workshop and full on-site installation. Our team ensures every structural steel and metalwork component is installed safely, accurately, and in line with project specifications.

Can you handle both residential and commercial projects?

Absolutely. We work across residential homes, architectural builds, renovations, and large-scale commercial developments throughout Taranaki and New Zealand-wide. Whether it’s a custom staircase or a full structural steel framework, we have the capability and experience to deliver.

What local and national areas do you service?

We service the wider Taranaki region, including New Plymouth, Inglewood, Stratford, Hawera, and surrounding areas. As well as New Zealand-wide.

If you’re unsure whether we cover your location, get in touch — we’re happy to discuss your project.

How early should we involve you in a project?

The earlier the better. Bringing us in during the planning or design stage allows for smoother coordination, accurate pricing, and efficient fabrication timelines. Early involvement helps prevent delays and ensures structural steel requirements are fully integrated into your project.

Do you offer custom one-off metalwork?

Yes, we specialise in custom metal fabrication. From bespoke architectural features and balustrades to unique structural components, we can design and fabricate one-off pieces tailored to your exact specifications.

Can you work off architectural drawings or CAD files?

Yes. We regularly work from architectural drawings, engineering plans, and CAD files. Our team can also assist with shop drawings and technical detailing to ensure everything is fabrication-ready and compliant with New Zealand standards.

What types of steel do you work with?

We work with a range of materials including mild steel, structural steel, stainless steel, brass, and other specialised metals depending on the project requirements. We select materials based on strength, durability, corrosion resistance, and intended use.
